Billyard Insurance Group is in search of a highly skilled and knowledgeable Senior Insurance Operations Specialist to join our vibrant team at Head Office. As a Senior Insurance Operations Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of our insurance function, while ensuring compliance with market guidelines and regulatory standards. This role requires a candidate with strong relationship-building skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and analytical acumen for efficient problem assessment and resolution. What does the Senior Insurance Operations Specialist do?
  • Expert Knowledge on Carrier Rules: Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and applying carrier rules to various underwriting scenarios.
  • Technical Coaching & Support: Provide technical coaching and support to front-line underwriters to enhance their skills and knowledge. Investigate and develop job aids and training material.
  • Underwriting Guidelines: support development of best practices, and the underwriting controls framework to ensure consistency and quality in decision-making processes.
  • Industry Trend Monitoring: Stay informed about industry trends and issues to continuously evolve company guidelines, processes, and best practices.
  • Carrier Products & Processes: Support carrier partner launches of new products, updates, and processes, facilitating seamless integration across key stakeholders.
  • Carrier Engagement: Engage in strategic market activities and support to stay abreast of carriers’ activities and align company strategies accordingly.
  • Document Preparation and Publishing: Prepare and publish documents such as best practices to disseminate and communicate essential information across the relevant stakeholders.
  • Ownership and Support of Various Projects: Take responsibility for supporting key projects, ensuring their effectiveness and alignment with company objectives.
  • New Systems & Platforms Support and Rollout: Implement and manage rules for new systems to optimize underwriting processes.
  • Escalation Handling: Address escalations promptly, including those related to market escalations, regulatory issues, and E&O cases.
  • Best Practices Development: Study and develop best practices and procedures based on claims and error and omissions cases to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Experienced with managing complex projects, cases and reports
  • Exceptional working knowledge of Applied Rater, PowerBroker, and other in-house platforms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365, with the ability to utilize these tools effectively for documentation, data analysis, and communication
 
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of personal lines or industry related experience
  • RIBO licensed, or willing to obtain
  • CIP, FCIP or CRM designations an asset
  • Post-secondary education preferred
