The Technology Manager at Billyard Insurance Group (BIG) is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of our technology systems and infrastructure. The role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify business needs, assess available technology solutions, and manage the deployment of new systems to support our insurance brokerage operations. The Technology Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that our technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable to meet our current and future business needs.
 
What does the Technology Manager do?
  • Lead the development and implementation of technology systems and infrastructure to support our insurance brokerage operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify technology needs, assess available solutions, and manage the deployment of new systems.
  • Manage technology projects from start to finish, including project scoping, planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Ensure that our technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable to meet our current and future business needs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and make recommendations to senior management regarding new technology investments.
  • Lead a team of technology professionals to ensure successful delivery of technology projects and ongoing maintenance and support of our technology infrastructure.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of technology projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor & address applicable Tech Box (BIG Support) requests from head office.
  • Monitor system performance & maintain system requirements.
  • Maintain in-house networking hardware & computer hardware.
  • Continuously support & aid other Tech team members.
  • Respond to internal instant messages & phone communications in a timely manner. 
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with all vendors, Managing Partners, Brokers, & BIG employees/contractors.

Does this sound like you?
  • Understanding of networking concepts to effectively manage a network and its associated components (i.e., Routing, Switching, Wireless Networking, DNS, DHCP, VLAN)
  • Understanding of security concepts to maintain the security and viability of business operations. (i.e., AntiVirus / EDM, SIEM, Firewalls, MDM)
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office 365 “Administration Centre” to manage users, create/manage Office 365 groups, view activity reports, etc.
  • Ability to navigate, evaluate and communicate information online or in a digital format
  • Using problem solving skills to determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
  • Shows attention to detail in monitoring and checking work or information while demonstrating a concern for all areas involved
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Able to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
  • Managing and analyzing data to extract important and pertinent information used to inform decision making
  • Experience in organizing people, tasks and/or functions so that they work together harmoniously

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Systems administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • A minimum of 5+ years of proven work experience in Systems Administration, or related field
  • A minimum of 1 year of proven experience supporting end-users with Microsoft 365, Adobe, & Windows
  • Strong computer skills, adaptable to multiple software platforms
  • Experience working in the Insurance Industry is an asset
  • CompTIA Server+ certification/CompTIA Security+ certification/CompTIA Network+ certification is an asset
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification is an asset
